About the Author
In July 1993, Hiroshi Doi, while attending a Crystal Healing seminar in Tokyo, met a member of the traditional Reiki Association. It was through this person that he was introduced to, and became a member of, Usui Reiki Ryoho Gakkai, founded by Mikao Usui. Drawing on his experiences here, Mr. Doi has established Gendai Reiki-ho (Modern Reiki Method for Healing).

Essential Insights from Japanese Reiki that are often missing in the West

This is one of the most comprehensive Reiki books out there. It reveals the perspective that Reiki is not only a healing art, but also a profound path of spiritual development. Included in this book is a detailed history of Reiki, discussion of the differences between Western and Japanese Reiki, description of Reiki training and the use of the four symbols, as well as an extended instruction in how to use Reiki as a spiritual practice. This is a major difference between Western and Japanese Reiki: in Japanese Reiki it is acknowledged that one's ability to transmit and be transformed by Reiki happens over time through consistent practice. After practicing Reiki for over 20 years myself, I can attest that this is indeed the case.
I highly recommend this book for every Reiki practitioner and teacher.

Simple, practical, and powerful.

I use this translation in correlation with the manuals I got from my teacher. I am a Gendai Reiki Shihan (teacher) since December 2015. This a wonderful updating to the traditional practices that combines the simplicity of the Japanese styles with the practicality of Western style. There is always a little something lost in translation, but I use it mostly for self-healing right now and the practices are powerful.

Reiki is not the end

Hiroshi Doi is a wonderful Reiki master, who also talks about self-realization. But Reiki can only be a transitional stage and not the final truth. I myself am a trained Reiki master in western style and a teacher in Japanese Reiki (here it should be clear that Life is the only true master and teacher). I realized that Reiki is just a help, a crutch that you have to let go of at the right time. If you are interested in enlightenment or awakening from the illusion of separation, I can recommend Dirk Hessel's book 'Awaken to Life'. This author has realized what he is writing about and goes far beyond the knowledge of all Reiki techniques. He popped up recently, and for me he is 'the new Eckhart Tolle' combined with the radical depth of Nisargadatta.
