About the Author
Noel Streatfeild grew up in a vicarage. Her father eventually became Bishop of Lewes. Noel trained as an actress, and acted for nine years before writing her first book, for adults. She did not write her first (and most famous) children’s book until 1936 – Ballet Shoes. Thereafter she wrote more than thirty other children’s books, some of which were televised, and all of which were hugely popular. Noel died in 1986.

This book was also published under the title, Skating Shoes. I enjoyed it immensely as a child, and my daughter enjoyed having it read to her.

Be warned - you may already own this book! Also called "Skating Shoes!"

Love Noel Streatfeild and was so excited to see a title for sale that I hadn't read before published new. Sorely disappointed when I started reading it and discovered it was a book I already owned under a different title - "Skating Shoes." It's not often I buy a new book for myself and this purchase was a waste. The description should mention the book is also sold under a different name. I would never have guessed that the story of Harriet skating would have anything to do with white boots, and don't think a customer should have to research that - be upfront on the seller side if you want happy customers.
